Big Game Species

Bull Tahr

Introduced to New Zealand in 1904, bull tahr are this country's premier alpine trophy. Found only in the South Island bull tahr provide the ultimate challenge to the free range hunter. See Tahr Hunting for hunting details.

Red Stag

Introduced to New Zealand in 1854 this country has arguably the largest trophy heads in the world. Our company offers both fair chase, and free range stag hunts, North Island or South Island, or stags from both islands if the mood suits. The massive stags are hunted in our estate ranches but good, representative heads are also available free-range. Many clients treat them as two separate trophy types.

Chamois Buck

Introduced to New Zealand in 1907 the Chamois is a true mountain antelope. Chamois live in steep and challenging terrain. He is only found in the South Island. See Chamois Hunts for hunting details. This buck is in its winter coat. The summer coat is a rich tan.

Fallow Buck

Introduced to New Zealand in 1864 the fallow deer is found in both islands and provides excellent trophies. New Zealand has several colour phases with the most sought after being the "New Zealand black". All of our guides can provide quality fallow buck hunts, and clients frequently take bucks in excess of 200 Douglas score.

Sika Stag

Introduced to New Zealand in 1905 the sika is only found in the North Island but in high numbers. It makes a great free-range or estate hunting quarry.  Other deer species available in small numbers in the North Island are Rusa and Sambar. These latter species are hunted in estates. This estate situation is similar in the South Island for whitetail deer

Ram

New Zealand is an agricultural country and at one time boasted a sheep population of over 70 million animals.  Our Company can offer both white and arapawa trophies. Ram hunts occur both within Estates and free-range.

Boar

Captain Cook released pigs for food in the late 18th century and numbers proliferated. They are a common quarry throughout New Zealand. All our guides offer wild pig hunting.

Billy Goat

The wild goat was introduced to New Zealand in the late 18th century and is in high numbers throughout both islands. Several of the billy goats produce massive trophy heads. All our guides offer wild goat hunting.

Elk

Introduced to New Zealand in 1905 the elk is in low numbers in its free range habitat. Trophy quality and numbers are excellent in estates. Brendan Matthews is our elk guide in the South Island, and Glenn Martin in the North Island.

Wild Bull

Introduced to New Zealand as a domestic animal there are a limited number of places where wild cattle herds offer hunters the chance of an unique trophy. Our guide Ray Potroz has exclusive access to the best wild bull property in New Zealand. The area is located in the North Island. Wild bulls are also found in our Australian concession

Wallaby

Introduced to New Zealand from Australia the wallaby provides amazing hunting. Numbers are high in the central South Island. Several of our guides provide hunts for these marsupials. Most clients add a wallaby hunt to their existing safari after other game.

Australia Species

We offer hunts after three quality species with other species being arranged on demand. The three species are water buffalo, scrub bulls and boar. All are introduced species and found in good numbers in our hunting concession.

New Caledonia Rusa Stag

Rusa are the dominant trophy animal in New Caledonia and finding a trophy has traditionally not been hard. Quantity of animals and quality has been very high though some number reduction has occurred in the last decade.
