Top New Free Range Property Donald Bray has found a magnificent new free range red stag property close to his main bull tahr wilderness area. A recent visit there saw over 100 deer observed with several good stags amongst them. The quality is as good as free range stags can attain in New Zealand with 10 to 14 point stags being harvested. The best stag taken on the property thus far is an 18 pointer, with a couple of 16 pointers also being shot. The hunting terrain is open tussock land, wide valleys, deep gullies, and scrubby faces that provide habitat for the deer. |

The same property also has top chamois buck in residence, and a recent hunter took a buck in excess of 10 inches. The area is well accessed with farm tracks and hunters are able to travel high up before taking to foot. The farm owner said he has seen at least 5 bucks better than the one that was shot. It is not often that a free range hunter can harvest a top red stag, and chamois buck in the same location. The deer inhabit the front of the farm while the chamois live over the back on the more fractured terrain. |

To add to the mix is incredible bull tahr hunting on Bray's own property which is virtually next door. Hunters target bulls in either March to August or spring hunt them between October and early December. Quality is outstanding. Prices for all of these hunts may be viewed on Bray's guide page Donald Bray . Free range hunting properties are highly valued in New Zealand and Bray has achieved a coup by providing hunters access to the big three of New Zealand free range hunting: red Stag: bull tahr and chamois buck.
