Drift Fishing Trips.

Fishing With Greg Dougherty

 Greg offers Drift fishing day trips (approx 8 hrs fishing), half days by arrangement and multi day float fishing trips for 1-2 fishermen. A usual day trip would see you getting picked up from you accommodation at 8 - 8.30 am. Once reaching the river we would get you set up with gear,( if you do not already have your own) be given a small  safety briefing before hitting the river. On most trips we would be fishing within a half hour of being picked up! You would be returned to your accommodation at around 5-5.30 with I'm sure photos and memories for a lifetime... Pick up and drop off times can be arranged to suit the client

We have a popular 3 day New Zealand fly fishing  package that has 2 day's Drift fishing and 1 day walk and wading . Please let us know what your time frame is and what your ability and expectations are and we can build a package to suit. We can also organise or recommend accommodation to meet your budget requirements. A typical 3 day guided New Zealand fly fishing package may include 1 day Drift-fishing the Clutha river, 1 day Drifting the Makarora river and 1 day walk and wading the Hunter river or another local river in the Wanaka region.

Greg also offers camp out fishing  trips which cover around 30 km of the Clutha river. We drift up to 15km (almost 10 miles) per day with the night camped out in between. We provide all camping equipment , fishing gear and food. Summer months only Dec - March. These fly fishing packages on New Zealand's South Island as always are subject to weather and river flows. Greg would endeavour to find the best options and conditions available. Depending on the fishing conditions and time available, we can choose between the Clutha, Hawea (both year-round) Makarora, Matukituki and Hunter rivers to find the best conditions possible.

Greg can also provide some excellent winter fly and spin fishing around Wanaka. If the snow is getting a little to icy to ski or the legs a bit sore then a day or half day drifting on the Clutha river is a great way to relax on a cool clear winter day. We provide hot chocolate and home baked muffins to keep you toasty and warm. See our discounted winter fishing rates below. This is your New Zealand fishing holiday and using our professional guiding experience and local fishing knowledge we will customise it to ensure you get the most from your New Zealand trout fishing experience.

• Summer day rates 2009/2010 from NZ $625 1 person , NZ$650 for 2 people .( max. 2 anglers)

• Winter fishing day rates from NZ $450 for 1 person, NZ $500 for 2 people (max. 2 anglers ) June, July, August

• These prices do not include a New Zealand fishing license which are currently $21 per day . (We can organise these)

• All trips include pick up and drop off from local accommodation.

• Half day fishing trips by arrangement.

• Equipment and tuition is provided.

• We provide a good lunch with home baked bread, muffins, cakes and cookies as well as cold drinks to be taken at your leisure.

• We can organise quality accommodation in the nearest town.

• Transport from Queenstown airport or town centre to Wanaka at extra charge

Greg has Department of Conservation concessions and local council consent. We are fully insured. Our fishing guide is trained in river rescue and outdoor first aid and is a New Zealand qualified White Water Rafting Guide, Grade 3.
